Lots of health food stores have pre-measured products you can buy for a 2-3 week colon cleanse regimen at home. Just make sure you don't have any long plane rides schedules.
Another much quicker technique I used was to drink the water in Mexico. It definitely cleaned everything out of me in a couple days. Not sure if that meets your "safely" requirement though.
