Answers:
bratzwoman is correct.

Much of the normal discharge is cervical mucus; it is this which changes in texture, during the cycle.

The vaginal lubrication is exuded from the walls of the vagina, especially when she is sexually aroused.

A very good site on female sexuality, anatomy etc is;

It is not a porn site, but is very frank.

See especially:

Abnormal discharge involves itching, irritation, and really strange nasty odours eg yeast ("thrush"), Trichomonas vaginalis (a protozoan parasite) and bacterial vaginosis (the wrong types of bacteria taking over).

Be more specific in your question.

Women do not generally talk about disharge but if you really must know, women have vaginal discharge for many reasons.

A healthy woman has discharge at all times. It is how the vagina cleans itself. Over a womans natural monthly cycle the discharge changes in appearance and texture. Around the time of ovulation, it becomes clear and stringy like egg white which enables sperm to get through to an egg. When a woman's period is due it becomes thick and claggy. When a woman is aroused it becomes watery and the vagina produces more for natural lubrication.

All of the above is normal and healthy. If the discharge is yellow, green and not smelling pleasant it may indicate that there is an infection. If this is so it is wise to seek medical advice.

I hope this clears up your discharge curiousity.
