Does eating local honey really reduce your allergy symptoms?

Question:
I heard that a tablespoon of local honey will help cure or reduce allergy symptoms. Something about the bees gathering local pollens.Myth or truth?

Answers:
Be cautious- how allergic are we talking here? See the doctor of course if you're severely allergic. "Local honey" isn't enough- it needs to be raw unfiltered local honey- most commercial honey is filtered (removes the pollen) and pasteurized.
Eating the local honey during spring is too late- you need to expose yourself during the winter months to have your body build up for the great spring-time pollenfest that is the great outdoors. People vary in terms of their success with this. I can say it works for me, but only for the pollen side of things. So it's pretty idiosyncratic.

Only for flowers and trees. If you have allergies to mold or dust ,etc. it will not help there.

Anything in the world can become a medicine to one; never for all.
Honey is a powerful thing. Take it with water daily. If you are suffering from colds it is your medicine. Keep two to three day fast and take honey(two tea spoons) + water twice or thrice a day.

I've never heard this before, but some of the responders say it could be true in some cases. But I did read an interesting article today, which I will be using as a new pickup line..
