Living in the desert I have have had more than my share of those things. I'm not sure that what I do will work for your little one because you have to get the baby to sit still for you. Vinegar softens the spine so that they don't hurt much coming out. I usually soak my hand in vinegar for a few minutes, or if they are in a spot that I can't dip into a bowl I dab vinegar on with a cotton ball.

If they are the big spines they'll slip right out after soaking, but make sure you get it all (they have a sheath on them that can stay behind if you don't look for it.)

If it's those pesky little reddish colored ones.good luck! They are so hard to find and removal can be nearly impossible for that reason..but one thing I did try on them once, and it worked pretty good, was putting white glue on them and after it dries you can peel it off, taking the tiny stickers out as it comes off.
