I'm not one for excercise but I need to get into to shape. Any suggestions?


I kind of liked doing yoga when I went with a friend to a class. That was a one time thing though. I am not sure what I should do about getting into shape.

I joined a gym with a friend. To be specific (Curves) it is a 30 min workout 3x a week and it doesn't seem like exercise. The girls are all great and it is a lot of fun. Met some new and interesting women friends too.

You should do something like swimming or bike riding something fun that you enjoy that way it will not feel like exercise. This summer I'm joining a swim group that swims laps every morning.

Simply go for a 15 minute walk every day. Start with a 5 min. walk.and increase it gradually until you are doing a 30 min. walk. You will be happy with the results

If you can manage to go to yoga classes on a regular basis, that would help. If you can get a friend to motivate you, even better. It usually helps motivate you if you have someone to exercise with you.

Walking is also very good. I try to walk instead of driving places if my destination is within 30 minutes. Take the stairs instead of an elevator. Take a walk during your lunch break. Going for hikes is also a great way to experience nature and get some exercise.

If time is tight, short bursts of exercise can also help. For example, you can do 2 10-minute walks in a day, then do some speed cleaning (put some muscle into it) for another 10. Here are some more ideas: http://exercise.about.com/cs/cardioworkouts/a/10minute.htm

For some reason I could never get into the formal exercise thing either. Fortunately there are tons of ways to get a terrific workout without ever setting foot in a gym or pushing play on a exercise tape. For example:

Keep up with the yoga if you liked it. Heck it's better than doing nothing at all. Another thing that you want to take a look at is your portion control. Try to just eat until you are satisfied not until you are stuffed. You may want to take a look at getting into a weight loss program as well.
