Is it necessary to rest in between sets while weightlifting?

Question:
If so, why is this? and how long should you rest for?

Answers:
Yes, your muscles can not continue to work strenuously like that. I have been told to rest for a little to build bulk and longer to gain strength. I don't think that is correct though. I usually let my partner work in a set and that gives me enough time to rest.

Other Answers:
yes, becuase you need to let yor muscles settle down.

Yes. To get your wit together before continuing

rest for probably 30- 60 seconds. that way your blood flow can regulate, and you will have a more effective workout.

YES SO THAT U DO NOT TEAR ANYTHING, BUT NOT FOR TO LONG YOU DONT WANT TO LOWER YOUR HEARTRATE OR YOU ARE DEFEATING THE WHOLE PURPOSE

YES! you should rest to stabilize your breathing and heart rate . Taking a 60 sec break between sets or reps of any exercise (including lifting weights) is highly recommended

you need to let your muscles slowly rebuild (even though over short period of time) when u weightlift your muscles are under stress so u need to let them rest for a period of 30 secs- 5 mins. hope this helps
