How do you bleach your hair with peroxide? How bad is it for your hair?

Question:

Answers:
Bleach and peroxide are two completely different things, in salons- they are both mixed together to create the lightening effect. I would NOT recommend using peroxide at home as I have seen how many at-home "peroxide"ie"sun-in" hair dramas caused from peroxide. I have done numerous colour corrections for people who have tried to lighten their hair with peroxide/sun-in. I would recommend to NEVER leave anything-especially a chemical in your hair overnight. The only thing you will get from what the person suggested earlier is you will need to get your hair cut short from all the damage from the peroxide, end up with orange/brassy hair- and your hair will feel like straw, it will be brittle and break off. If you use saran wrap you can end up with orange spots on your head instead of blonde streaks. Also, the peroxide is not strong enough and is not stable enough to get to a nice colour. You need to see a professional to get streaks, if you are concerned for cost - you should get a few foils in the front as foils are usually about $5 each (maybe a little more for long hair)you can get as many or as little as needed. I would recommend 4 foils on top and it will lighten up the whole look, without washing you out and making your hair and ugly orange colour. As professionals- we have extensive knowledge of chemicals and colours and how to use them correctly for different hair colours and skin types. If you end up trying to lighten your hair at home, you will end up with split broken ends- possible breakage at the roots, and you will end up paying more to get your colour fixed at a salon which would cost you triple to correct it then it would to just go to the salon in the first place. Good luck. P.S.- Never leave anything in your hair overnight unless it is a conditioner. :)

Other Answers:
the best way for all over lightening, is to apply starting at roots with cotton ball-wear old clothes- then keep applying till all areas you want lighter are soaked. leave on overnight, wash out and condition for 2 mins. do again in week if not light enough- for streaks, pull sections up and soak and wrap in saran wrap.it is no worse than using a store bought product- basically-sun-in is just peroxide.

i used peroxide for 20 years and still get comments on how shiny and soft!

Can't answer that, other than to say don't do it. I can't stand the look of "bleached" hair. A good percentage of men DON'T like the bleach blonde look. If you look anything like your avatar, you look pretty damn good as a brunette, don't mess it up. But it's not my hair.

Peroxide makes the hair orange. Very unnatural, and cheap.

Don't do it. It might work for some, but not for all.. For heavens sake leave your hair alone. It is literally poisoning your hair.

I've used peroxide for about 5 years, and eveyone thinks i'm a natural blonde. After you put it on (it smells pretty bad) you have to leave it overnight otherwise it won't work.
Wash it, condition it. Repeat if necessary.

OH my..Peroxide will dry out your hair like crazy. I do not recomend you do this. What you should do Is spend a little bit more money and buy a box of Herbal Esencess in color XL 0 (its bleach). this has so many conditioners in it. After you use this your hair will be better then it was before bleaching. You can get this at your local Wal-mart for under 10.00$. Now remember if your hair is dark you will have to do this 2 or 3 times before it is actually bleach blonde. Make sure you use a deep penatrating conditioner everyday before and after you color so your hair will stay strong. I recomend AUSSIE 3 minute Hair Reconstructor. Please do not put peroxide in your hair. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE OTHER PEOPLE who tell you otherwise.
You could also go to a salon and spend up to 80.00$ to get it done right and to get the bleach color same day.

its a bad idea to bleach your hair with peroxide it will probably turn orange just go to a professional if you have to lighten your hair naturally do it with lemons at least it wont damage or produce an ugly color
