Why do they pay you for a plasma donation and not a blood donation?

Plasma donation takes much longer. Like a couple hours. You have to wait while they separate the plasma, then they put the red cells, etc. back into you.

Yeah, but not with the proper techniques and chemicals to save the platelets. Platelets are more difficult to give. Not every one can. You have to be able to spare them. For instance I can't give platelets because I don't have enough to spare. I have enough to do what my body needs and nothing more. My mother however has enough to clot the greater Oklahoma City area. She donates all the time.
