why do people get derpessed?

i was diagnosed with depression and i dont like it. why does it have to happen. how do you make it go away? i dont wanna be anymore. i wanna be happy!

There really isn't a good answer for this. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago with clinical depression and was given some medication to take. It really helped me get back on track so that I could focus on what makes me happy. If you are not already on meds then you need to start taking them. The first step is to get back to where you can think clearly and then find a psychologist to talk to about your problems.
The most important thing is to get help with the physical symptoms. Until you do that, you can't work on the cause effectively. Best of luck to you!

There are competing theories about this. There are differing levels of certain chemicals in your brain. Everyone has different levels. It doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, just that you need a different key. Find a good psychiatrist, explore the issue with her. If the psychiatrist is no good, don't spend a lot of time on it--but give it at least a month. Good luck.

There is a chemical imbalance in the brain. This can be caused by stressful situations, I think, that make you sad or it could just be a disorder. There are perscription drugs your doctor can describe for you.

I think my depression came from my one time use of marijuana, because I have been depressed ever since then.

Well first you will want to determine that it is genetics. Check your family history, or were you abused, mentally or physically. Or the main answer it that you lack seratonin which is a chemical that promote happiness to the brain if you lack that then you may want to result to medications. And therapy. And learn tools to cope with deppression if you feel suicidal then apply a rubberband to your wrist and snap the rubber band everytime you feel the need to inflict pain. Or go for a run. But the worst thing for deppression is to isolate yourself and do nothing. Take it from me. I truly know.
