is there a medecine or cure for psoriasis?
Answers:
There is no cure. I have a mild case of psoriasis, and my Dad has one of the worst cases ever recorded, and my sister has a pretty bad case too.
I use a hydrocortisone (sp) creme and rub it directly on my bad areas. One thing that has really worked for the areas on my face is to use Nizoral shampoo and rub it on my face while I'm in the shower, let it sit for about 2 minutes and then shower it off. Do this three times a week, it works really good for me, Nizoral is a prescription shampoo, but you can get it over the counter, just not as strong. However don't use it on your hair, it made our hair fall out! You can also use it on your elbows and knees.
Other than that there are all kinds of treatments available through your doctor. The best is ultraviolet light, but that can also cause skin cancer..so be careful with that.
Hopefully with all the gene therapy stuff being developed now, we'll have a cure in the next 10 years.keep your fingers crossed!

what do you do to a stiff neck?
No cure. Lots of ways to address the symptoms but no real solid research indicating that a cure is on the way.The best web site I have found is www.psoriasis.org
My dad and I both have it. My dad used cortizone creams for a while and found that, with regular use, they became less effective. It seemed like his skin acclimatised to it. Then when he came off them, he had a rebound reaction for a couple of weeks.
Personnaly I avoid most topical applications including moisturizers. Some research indicates that coal tar based applications might increase the risk of skin cancer. The best thing I have found to stop my skin drying out is good old vaseline petroleum jelly. A bit greasy I will admit if you put too much on but if you shower/bathe to get rid of the flaky plaques, the fresh skin exposed dries out really quickly. I found regular moisturizers would sting like heck sometimes when applied on this fresh skin. Vaseline doesnt. Also cheap and lasts for ages.

As others have noted, treatments are available but no cure. I would suggest you visit a dermotologist -- preferably one who treats many patients with the same illness.
He cor she can help you: a) identify lifestyle factors that can contribute to symptoms; b) non-medicine treatment alternatives (such as moisterizers, etc.); and c) the many treatment alternatives (everything from coal tar products to ointments up to and including chemo and immunosuppresants.
Your doctor can evaluate your particular case and discuss the different treatment choices (and their pros and cons) so that you can make the best selection for you.
