Any experience with Dental Travel?

Question:

.which is to say getting implant dentistry done in foreign countries? Two countries which come up on a search are Hungary and Thailand tho there may be others. Anybody with direct (or even secondary) experience care to comment?

I know some Implant lectuer's are actively training implant Dentistry in those countries. So they do have access to the latest techniques there. Make sure you get their qualifications, and so on.

if you search the globe for cheap dentistry, that's exactly what you'll get. the united states has the most regulated medical/dental care in the world. we have the fda, osha, american dental association, and many other governing bodies. these groups aim to protect the consumer. dentists licensed in other countries cannot practice in the united states without going through rigorous background checks, written exams, clinical tests, and other requirements. sometimes, they have to go through 4 years of dental school despite their training in their native land. all of this is for good reason. poor dental treatment tends to manifest itself years down the road. chances are that if things go wrong, you won't find out in time to do anything about it. the old saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies in the dental world. if you cannot even drink the water in some foreign countries without getting sick, why would you volunteer for a surgical procedure there? it just does not make sense. you will save money upfront, but if something goes wrong, the american legal system typically has no recourse. if something can be done, it will likely take years and years to settle. quality dental work is worth paying for. good luck.

you can come to india too.it's cheaper than the above mentioned countries, but you have to find the right kind of dentist,with the right kind of experience in Implant dentistry, in India.

Im from Hungary, graduated from med uni there. Have lots of friends who are dentists and do implants as well. I think Hunagrian dentists have very high quality work, there is quite a bit of "dental tourism" going on from other European countries - I can only recommend Hungary to you. It is cheaper, sometimes the materials they put in are higher quality than the western counterparts - because of cheaper dental technitian prices, I guess. Come and you will not regret, I guarantee you. I don't know about Thailand, though. :)

Canada is a nice alternative if you are American because the exchange on our money is so high. You get your money's worth and they have some great dental schools there. Lots of great dentists!
