Is skipping breakfast bad?

I'm 15, and I usually skip breakfast (if i'm not hungry, which is usually never) to lose a little weight.

Is it better to eat breakfast and keep the pounds, or is there an alternative to skipping breakfat? I'm a pretty active girl, I love shooting hoops and being outside.

First let me start by saying that if you are physically active that is the best way to lose weight. At 15 years old chances are you are still growing so don't cut your calories too much!
I eat breakfast everyday now that I have been helped to understand how important it really is. The overnight gap is the longest period of time our bodies go without food in a 24hr. period. If you stretch that gap your body will begin to shift into fasting mode. That means that any food that you do finally eat will be stored as fat and kept on your body longer. Your body becomes uncertain when it will be replenished so it begins to create a sort of energy storage.
Also if you are doing this to lose weight studies prove that breakfast skippers actually have more problems with obesity and diabetes because it increases insulin resistance. That is a big deal!!
A lack of appetite in the morning may be the result of a large meal or snack consumed the night before. Perk up your morning appetite by eating lighter and earlier in the evenings.

Honestly, breakfast is one of the most important meals you can eat, it's what gets your body going for the rest of the day. I wouldn't recommend skipping any meals, it's really unhealthy to do that. If you're concerned about weight, try eating your meals, but cutting back on portion sizes. If you're really active, you should be eating, though.

I was the same way at your age, but now I am heavier then normal. One thing I have relearned with age is.eat all the fatty foods you want for breakfast..cause you will burn it off during the day.now have a lighter lunch and skip supper is the healthy leaner alternative.

I'm not much older than you and I've done experiments with different types of breakfast and none at all and I realized that skipping breakfast is not a great idea.it really helps you funtion better and since your active weight should not be a problem.try a few 12 minute runs and watch the pounds slip off.

No, studies have shown that girls who eat breakfast are skinnier. The earlier you eat in the day, the more calories you burn as you are active during the day and not so much at night. And skipping breakfast takes away some of your energy, I used to hate eating breakfast, but now I can totally feel the difference if I skip even one day. Eat your breakfast even if it's light, skipping breakfast does NOT make you lose weight. And besides your probably gorgeous and dont need to be skinnier anyways. :)

Cereals burn in 3 hrs (not good). 2 eggs, a meat (bacon, sausage, ham) toast (wheat or rye) a glass of orange juice should get you going and your body stores the fat for later use of energy. Eating lunch and supper is important because your body stores the protein and fats for later when your body says give me more energy!

u should always eat so your body dosnt think it is starving it self, but just dont eat so much. like say u get lost out in the middle of the desert, what r u to do with no food, your body restores its fat just incase u wont be able to eat for a while. trust me im working on a diet right now.but my way of doing so is a small breakfast, a big lunch, and no dinner..(no snacks) i hope this helps you

Skipping breakfast is not the way to lose weight. Just eat a balanced breakfast, like a banana and toast, and regular meals. The hard thing is not snacking on junk food. That's the main thing, just being aware of what you eat. Skip that bowl of ice cream you're craving, and have some wheat thins or yogurt instead. If you get into this habit of eating a healthy and balanced diet, I guarantee you'll lose weight without being unhealthy. Just DON'T skip breakfast! It's not healthy.

well i ussually do it but i really try to grab somthin small before school
try thses quick smoothies
i ride the bus so if you do grab one and drink it on the bus may not be big but its somthin
good smooties are yoplay yogurt smoothies
find them in like giant eagle or what ever

Hey, yes skipping breakfast is bad. Your body is constantly storing food and breaking down to help you grow. Your body does this based on the rate of consumption. The more times you eat the more your body will work and the more breaking down and burning off of excess it will do. It is actually better for you to eat 4-6 small meals a day with little snacking. You want to eat small meals because it helps to keep your stomach small, the smaller your stomach the less you can eat at one time and the more rapidly it would burn off.. If you are no more than your healthy weight for your age I wouldn't worry about loosing a few pounds. As you grow your weight will change 3-5 pounds everyday, depending on how active you are and the amount of fluid you consume.(Fluid weighs more than mass.)Hope this answers your question. yeh its bad 2 skip breakfast-it gives ur the energy 4 the mornin n also if u skip breakfast i heard u gain weight.thts y i have 2 eat breakfeast now.i skipped it tryin 2 lose weight but all tht happened is i stayed the same but if i kept doin it my neighbors mom (whos a nurse) sed i wood gain weight

If you dont eat breakfast, your body goes into a sort of "starvations" mode after not eating all night, and it holds onto all fat cause it thinks it not gettin food. SO when you lunch your body stores at much as possible, there for making you gain weight. Eat 5-6 small healthy meals a day and exercise and you will lose weight.
