Losing weight rapidly is never a good solution. You are ten times more likely to gain the weight back and add extra pounds when you do gain it back. Starving yourself, however tempting, can actually lead you to gain more weight or retain the extra weight you already have-- when your body tells your brain it is starving it sends triggers to slow down your metabolism even more.
I would try to find a weight watchers type program in your area, weight loss is proven to be more effective if you have a support network. I lost 37 lbs on weight watchers 4 years ago and I have kept it off!

The first week of a diet usually lets you lose 10 lbs - the water weight.

The only way to lose weight safely is to eat a proper diet, no junk food, just healthy food and exercise. Even just walking will do it. I just lost 60 plus pounds so I know it works.
If you go to the moon you will weigh 1/6 less than here on earth. I think you want to lose your mass, not your weight. Forget what the scale reads. If you want to look great you need to do resistance exercises and build muscle. Muscle is what gives us that lean shape. Since muscle weighs more that fat, who cares what the scale says!
