Will a gynecology exam on a virgin change me?

Question:
I am a virgin girl. I am 21 and I have never gone to a gynecologist. I am concerned that by going to one and getting the routine pelvic exam, I will end up changing myself. I want my first sexual experience to be all it can be. I do not want to change my body by going to an exam when I do not believe anything is wrong. Will the exam change me?

Answers:
Depends on how you define "virgin". Although many people believe that the hymen completely occludes the vaginal opening in human females, this is quite rare. If you are wondering if it will change your sensations or your view of having sex, not likely. The exams are pretty easy, especially if you have a good doctor who is considerate and gentle. You could even talk about this to your doctor. He or she may be able to reassure you.

Other Answers:
I had an exam before my first sexual experience and believe me it did not take away my virginity, They do not permeat the membrane that is part of a virgin. So will it change you as a virgin? No. Will it change you emotionally as a woman? Yes. It is a graduation into woman hood that is to me, awful. But do not worry so much. Explain the gyno that it is your first and that you are a virgin. They will not look down on you but will applaud your decision. An exam is important for your health so do not neglect to go.
