what is a good way to loose weight with out exercise?

Question:

Answers:
The previous answer is good but here are some details.

1 pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories.

So if you lose 3500 calories you lose 1 pound of weight from your body.

When I say lose 3500 calories, it can be:

1. reduced food consumption - eat 3500 calories less. Consider this for a period of say, a week. 1 pound per week is a very healthy way to lose weight.

2. increased exertion - burn more calories by doing physical activity that consumes calories - exercise, strenuos work or whatever.

So, if your energy equation:

Calories IN is less than Calories OUT, you lose weight.

(If Calories IN is less than Calories OUT by 3500 calories you lose 1 pound.)

So, it's upto you as to how choose to lose!

The best way is to have a bit of both: increased physical activity from your current level and reduced calorie consumption from your current level.

And some other simple suggestions help:

1. Reduce sugars (and simple carbs like white bread, rice) from your diet.

2. Reduce fats

3. Drink more water

4. Eat more protein

5. Eat more fiber (fruits, veggies)

BTW exercise does not mean going to the gym. Simple day to day activities do help.

1. Take stairs whenever possible instead of elevators/ escalators.

2. Park your car further away from the entrance to any store, mall etc so get some extra walk.

3. Whenever possible, swing your hands, stretch , breath deeply wherever you are.

Simple steps go a loooong way in the path to better health. Hope this helps.

EDIT: someone just posted an equally good answer before I could submit mine. Good Job!

There is no good way to lose weight without exercise.

quit eating so much. Only way i know but you will still remain soft. I hate to be flippant but there is no good way to lose weight without exercise.

Simply cut down on your calories. You don't have to stop eating, just change what you eat.

You can lose weight without exercise by cutting your caloric consumption down enough that it's lower than your caloric burn. You're not doing yourself any favors, though, because exercise is vital to your health. And if you do exercise, you can enjoy food that much more. Do you want to be a thin but unhealthy couch potato who nibbles lettuce for a snack and has a bad heart, or a fit, active, healthy person who can afford to splurge on chocolate cake once in awhile because that next bike ride will just burn it right off?

You have to modify your diet to burn fat more efficiently. Your diet should consist primarily of protein (at least 50% of your calories), then complex carbs (no sugar products), then fats.

You should keep a log for a week of how many calories you currently eat, on average, daily. Take this amount, subtract 500 calories, and divide it by 6. This is the approximate amount of calories you should eat for 6 meals per day (about every 3 hours).

i.e. You currently average 2900 calories per day. 2900-500 = 2400 calories required to give you a calorie deficit. 2400/6 = 400 maximum calories per meal x 6 meals per day no sooner than 3 hours apart.

If your calories consist primarily of protein (i.e. chicken, fish, lean red meat, protein powder (I use optimum nutrition banana scream because it has a mild taste and mixes well with little water in a shaker)) you will force your body to burn fat as energy. Also, since you're depleting your body of 500 calories per day, you should lose a pound of fat within 7 days (1 pound of fat is approximately 3500 calories).

In order to keep losing weight, you should decrease your total caloric intake by another 100 calories every couple of weeks but I wouldn't recommend going below 250-300 calories per meal x 6 meals per day.

Whatever you do, don't skip meals (it will make your metabolism slow down) and don't save your calories to double up on certain meals. For your sanity, you may want to pick one day to cheat on your diet slightly by taking in more calories (i.e. 600-800 as apposed to 300-400) during one or 2 meals on that day.

Hope this helps ;-)
