Birth Control Help?

Question:
My girlfriend is taking an oral contraception by means of the pill. It is a Solia Tablet with Desogen. Since being on it for the past year or so her sex drive has all but stopped, she normally did not have much of one to begin with but now its completly gone. Reading up on the web about this has said that i can decrease sex drive, even permanently, were looking for other alternatives to the pill so that we can be intimate (our relationship is suffering slowly but surely sadly)However one big concern of hers is weight loss. Any information or suggestions are highly recommended even if there is a form of birth control out there for men that i could take instead, even if in trial phases. Thankyou for your time and help, We need it.

Answers:
Some birth control pills are less likely to decrease the sexual drive. Specifically those with more than one hormone in them. She should talk to her doctor, because he/she'd know more about what to suggest. This may be an easy fix from one birth control pill to another.

However, there are lots of other contraception options, too. She might want to try a diaphram or do something else, like the pills that release slowly over time and are surgically placed in the arm. Female condoms are much less effective than male condoms (they don't "sit" as well), but they do exist.

And then there are always male condoms and spermicides. They're still working on a hormone-based contraception for men, but they expect it to be out in the next couple of years. Last I read, if you use the condom right every time it's 80% effective. Add some spermicide to that and your likelihood of getting pregnant goes down even more.

Also, mixing birth control methods decreases your chance of getting pregnant. I've heard of people getting pregnant on the pill and I've heard of people getting pregnant when they're using condoms, but I've never heard of it happening to someone who did both.

Just a side note (and you may have already taken this into account), women sometimes become less interested in sex for other than pill-related reasons. It might be worth noting whether or not she's more stressed out lately, if you two have been as intimate emotionally as you were a year ago, or if she's having a hard time acheiving orgasms via vaginal sex she might feel "broken," etc.

Other Answers:
use a condom.

has she ever thought of the coil ??

there are so many types of contraception, and so many types of the pill. tell her to talk to her doctor, and he can go through everything with her.

get her pregnant then she cant get pregnant again

I don't know how to help you two but I'd like to tell you that you might want to fix your sentence. Right now it says ".i can decrease sex drive."

TRY THE NUVA-RING.

try the Ring it stays inside the vagina for 3 weeks and 1 week out you get a new one every month !!go on line and check it out

All she need to do is tell her Doctor, the have like 50 other types of birth control pills. But most of them will cause you to gain weight. Try the condom, the IUD or the diaphragm.

She should just talk to her doctor

Try the depo shot. But it can cause weight gain.

A birth control pill for men may become a reality within the next few years, and now experts say that pill will not only be effective, but reversible. Researchers from UCLA and the University of Sydney analyzed sperm data from male hormonal birth control studies conducted over the last two decades. They found that most men's sperm counts returned to normal within about 5 months of stopping treatment

and you girl friend needs to change to a different kind if it has stop sex drive
