Has anyone tried Ortho K contact lenses and would they recommend them over laser surgery?

Question:
I've been considering eye surgey to correct my vision but have now seen the Ortho K lenses which you wear over night and they correct your vision so that there is no need to wear lenses during the day. It seems rather expensive though for initial and ongoings cost when surgey is a one off cost with permanent(?) results. Has anyone used Ortho K and would you recommend them?

Answers:
I am an Ophthalmology nurse and have great experience with alot of these things. First of all, no Ortho K will not correct your vision. On top of that, by sleeping in any kind of lenses, your at greater risk for a corneal ulcer, which is extremely painful, and can damage your cornea enough to cause blindness. Lasik surgery is a very good option if you are a candidate. It is painless. If you wear contacts, you have to be out of contacts for three weeks because they cause corneal warpage and you could have inaccurate results.
