can a pinched nerve in the spine cause arm pain?

Question:
The chiropractor has found that I have a ruptured disk/pinched nerve in the middle of my back. I have had intermittent pain from my shoulder to my wrist. Can the pinched nerve cause the pain?

Answers:
It matters how far down the spine the rupture is. If it is at nipple level and above there is a chance that the pain is from there. There is also a chance that the pain is in your visceral organs (belly) and you are having something called "refered" pain. That is when it appears that your arm hurts when in reality it is another body part.
