Other Answers:
I think she and you needs to go to a good OBGYN and tell Him/Her that she has herpes and ask all the questions that you need to ask, a good doctor will be glad to answer all of your questions so that you understand everything you need to know. She also needs to get good care all the time she is pregnant. I do know for sure if she is taking med's for herpes she needs to stop taking a month or two before getting pregnant.

the best way to do this is to talk to the Doctor.

There's a small risk that the baby can get herpes when it's born, which is really bad if it happens, but usually doesn't. There are certain medications that can reduce that risk so it'll be safe. This is something she needs to discuss with her doctor, though.

i know you said 3 answers, but however, my sister caught herpes from her sob of a crackheaded husband. she gotpregnant and the doctor checked her before she went into full labor. he told her if she had an outbreak they would have to do a c section because the risk of passing it while you have an outbreak is greater. if there isnt an outbreak the doctor may go ahead and do the vaginal delivery.

Please inform your obgyn, so your wife is on suppressive therapy. As long as you are taking med. as prescribe, theire should be know prob.just be careful.

I believe that herpes actually can affect the baby as it passes through the birth canal. But, make sure her doctor is aware of the herpes. There are meds that she can take to reduce the chances of an outbreak before delivery. If there are any sores at the time of delivery, she will have to deliver via c-section. Good Lick!

1. tell your doctor
2. take anti-breakout treatments, like valtrex
3. if she is having an active lesion outbreak when she goes into labor, she will have to be a c-section.

other than that, you should be ok. It can cause some big problems in the baby so she should TAKE HER MEDICINE.

The doctor will explain all this to you but your baby will be fine. Your wife will be put on suppressive medicine towards the end of her pregnancy and if by chance she is having an outbreak when she delivers, the doctors will perform a Cesarean. You guys can always choose to have the section if you want. But as long as your wife doesn't have sores present when the baby is passing through the birth canal, the baby will be fine.

Unless your wife has an ob during delivery, then it should all be fine. Most docs will put a woman on suppressive meds during her third trimester to help prevent this.

The risk for herpes and pregnancy is if the mom has an ob at the time of delivery, or if she is infected during her third trimester. Since that won't be the case for her, it should all be fine.

Good luck to you!

If your wife has a baby while she is having an outbreak, there is a very strong chance that the herpes can cause your child to be blind. Check with her ob doctor. The doctor can tell you more in depth info. The two of you may want to talk to the doctor about a possible C section so that the baby is at no risk. Best of Luck and when the time comes, enjoy your little angel.
