postthrombotic sindrome treatment?

Question:

Answers:
Postphlebitic syndrome is caused by trauma or anatomical changes to particular blood vessels after a clot has formed there. Typically the clot itself is treated with coumadin until the body can take care of it. Afterwards (months to years after the clot), the remnants of the clot as well as the anatomical changes cause swelling, tingling, redness, and/or pain where the clot used to be (usually in the lower legs). There is no particular treatment for postphlebitic syndrome except for symptomatic therapy. Sometimes the swelling could be treated with a medication called lasix (furosemide), and the pain can be treated with analgesics. Sorry I could not help more.

Other Answers:
one word. Coumandin. prevents blood clots
