Ok, so check with your doctor first, to see if they think it's an ok thing to do. I have done it before, and my doctor OK-ed it first.
When you get to the last set of pills, or the placebo pills, throw the pack out and start a new one. This will only work if your period if regular and hasn't started yet.
I think some people forget that having your period means a lot more than just bleeding. A tampon isn't going to get rid of the bloating, irritability, and cramps that could potentially ruin a vacation. So if your doctor says it's safe.. GO FOR IT!

There is actually a pill that gives you just four periods a year. It's called Seasonale. But for most other pills you can skip your period by just starting a new pill pack after the third week of your pills, so you don't take any placebo pills. It is safe to do this sometimes, but don't do it too often.
