Help with Self Injury?

Question:
Hi, I want to stop cutting because I'm afraid that someone will see the scars/burns/marks.. but come winter when I'm all covered up, I'm worried I'll start up agian? How do I stop for good if a part of me doesn't want to stop?!

Answers:
you need to get help. you can't stop if you don't want to stop. cutting is very unhealthy. seriously, the only way you can stop is to want to and to get help so you don't have to do it on your own. there are support groups.

Other Answers:
seriously you need to talk to someone close to you about this. Try to talk to someone you trust.

don't, just cut under your underwear, no one will ever look there

been there done that.

Talk to your school counselor or an adult you trust. Or call 411 and ask for the county health services. They may be able to refer you to a counselor so you can get to the bottom of your problem. Your parents should know.

Many times, girls cut themselves because the pain distracts them from what's going on inside their heads. Often, they have issues that they have trouble facing -- abuse at home, health problems, breakup of a relationship, etc. This is not an unusual problem, but you could end up damaging your tendons, not to mention getting severe infections from the cuts.

Part of you may not want to stop. but part of you does. Listen to that part of you.

Please get help. Talk to a counselor to try and find ways to stop yourself from doing that anymore. My friend's son who is a cutter, had joined the Navy and was sure this was the answer to the years he had felt of depression. He was doing great until it was discovered that all of the scars all over his arms and legs were from the cutting. The Navy decided he was too unstable to serve in the military and they discharged him. Now, he is working in a bar and depressed again. I have felt terrible for him. But, it made me realize that the self-mutilation has life-long repercussions that can play out in many facets. Please get help so that you can stop.

Well, at 13 there are MANY counselers that can help you. (Even if you can not afford it)

Your school counseler would be a good start. (if you feel comfortable talking to him/her)

find a teacher, adult, family member, pastor, anyone you are comfortable with and have them help you through this.

I used to cut too.

First thing you can do is STOP LISTENING TO EMO! (if you do)

Try finding a new outlet for your pain. Write, draw, scribble, even. something that can give you a release.

for you to be so young and to already have scars from cutting worries me. Girls usually only start that young when something terrible has happened to them. You need a positive friend you can just vent to. if you ever need to just rant and rave about anything, you can message me. I don't know if I can make you feel any better, but i will listen!

The part of you that does not want to stop is the part of you that wants to stop the most! There are other ways of getting the relief you need. Some of which you are still too young for and will have to improvise on.
