that average weights for children are increasing as well:

The average weight for a 10 year-old-boy in 1963 was 74.2 pounds; by 2002 the average weight was nearly 85 pounds.

The average weight for a 10-year-old girl in 1963 was 77.4 pounds; by 2002 the average weight was nearly 88 pounds.

I think that at the age of 10 you don't need to be thinking abbout theese things

P.S. to ihsanidrees amreca need to diet hua

about 70-80 pounds

It definantly depends on the height. For about 4'6-4'8 I'd say anywhere from 60-75 lbs, and 4'9-4'11 80-95lbs.

10 year olds should not be concerned about weight, they are still growing. Restricting calories and crash dieting might stunt your growth. Just be a kid for cryin' out loud.

depends on the BMI, check out this website for help

the height would be around. hmmm. americans average around 51-53 inches. so I guess.. about 75 to 87 pounds. if your taller, than more.

I'd say 70 pounds

I'm hoping an adult didn't ask this question because if so, you have no idea about health or fitness at all. But adult or child, as a health educator I run into this sort of ignorance all the time. Remember ignorance is NOT bliss. Learn and make your life better.

Weight tells you little or nothing: for one obvious example, if she weighs 120 pounds . . . it means quite a bit different things if she's 4'5" or if she's 6' even.

Height plus weight gives you some sort of an idea but not very much. Let's take a girl that is 4'10" weighing 90# and another girl same age and weight. One of them might be
a young decathlon champ and sport a solid-as-a-rock body while the other one might have a much slighter frame and literally be a fat slob. The decathlon champ might sport a lean body mass of 88-90% (almost all her body weight comes from muscle, bone, tendons, cartilage and organs) while the chubby girl might carry an LBM* of 47-52% (about half of her body weight comes from fat!) -- by the way, anorexic girls get that way by losing muscle mass while trying to lose fat -- the healthier thing to do is to aim for fitness and building muscle and ignore fat altogether. Muscle increases basal metabolism and burns fat 24 hours a day so that every pound of muscle you have and every pound of new muscle burns off 6 would-be pounds of fat every year. If anorexic girls could develop the healthy self-esteem and lifestyle of athletes, they would be 10,000% better off.

So what does a truly fat person, male or female, do to lose fat. At the risk of repeating myself: fitness means aerobic conditioning and that comes from doing some sort of activity such as walking, jogging, running, bicycling, swimming, tennis, cross-country skiing, dancing, martial arts, etc. for 40 minutes to an hour 5-7 times a week. Muscle building is using some sort of resistance activity such as simple calisthenics; or weight training for 10-15 minutes daily 2-3 times a week. Rest and eating good foods (fruits vegetables and unadulterated grains + occasional lean meats) is the final touch. Good luck.

*LBM lean body mass is derived from taking body fat percentage and subtracting that number from 100.
