why do we search for the cold spot on the pillow when we sleep?

i believe that our heads are the hottest part of our body and if our heads become to hot our body sends us a message that we are over heating. so common sense tells us to cool down.

i don't have any scientific theory or proof of why we do, i just know for some reason it's comforting finding that cold spot or the cold side if the pillow.

My hair is usually wet when i go to sleep, i find it easier when it is. This is becuase where i live its very hot, and we have to turn off A.C. to save money so its hard to sleep without taking a cold shower prior.
