Lancome and L'Oreal ?

Question:

In my country, L'Oreal salespersons always say that L'Oreal and Lancome are the same company. I don't think they are, but I notice that the skincare products of these two often have similar packaging and style, with Lancome a lot more expensive than L'Oreal. Can anyone tell me how they are related? I checked L'Oreal website and saw Lancome among their pages.

They are the same and actually they are the only makeups that I use. It was like that before I even knew.

The only thing I'd really look into is Lancome's mascara. Well worth the price. Everything else can be L'Oreal

L'Oréal is a huge company. It owns Lancome, Garnier Fructis, Kéraste, Giorgio Armani, Softsheen Carson, and even Maybelline New York. I think you're talking about L'Oréal Paris, which is another brand name that L'Oréal owns. Lancome is a more luxurious brand name, while L'Oréal Paris is targeted to the everyday woman. They are not the same brand name, but they are owned by the same major company. L'Oréal can can be compared to Proctor & Gamble, Alberto-Culver, and Colgate-Palmolive. These are all huge manufacturing companies that own a lot of the popular brand names you see in stores.

Lancome and L'Oreal are both divisions of Cosmair. That is the second largest cosmetics conglomerate in the world. The first is Estee Lauder Companies, who owns, incidentally: MAC, Creme de la Mer, Kiehl's, Aveda, Jane (drugstore), Clinique, Prescriptives, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone, and many more.
