is it bad to do exercises at night?

Question:
for two nights i did my exercise. but when it was time for bedtime, it took me 4 hours to finally fall asleep. a friend told me that it must be the adrenalin rush. is this true? what time is the ideal time for exercise?

Answers:
Depends on the exercise but at least 2 hours before you go to bed. Early evening or morning is best.

after lunch is ideal.don't eat a big dinner, and never go to sleep right after eating..wait at least an hour after eating to sleep.

I've heard that it isn't the best idea for the reasons you mention. I think the morning is a good time.

approx. 5-6 hours before rest period.

no its not bad just take a nice warm shower after your done that should help

But any excersise is better than no excersise.

for me morning is the best, its a rejuvinator in the morning to get you going the rest of the day

Its different for every person, cause after I exercise at night I am out like a light.

Try exercising at 6pm

yes. That will be the good old adrenaline. The best time doesn't work the same for everybody. You have to find your perfect time. Or exercise harder so you end up so tired you'll fall asleep. It usually works better in the morning, at least for me.

you shouldnt excercise like two hours before going to bed. leave at least an hour and half after excercising.

i do my exercise at night all the time since i have to work during the daytime. it doesn't really affect me much. But my doctor said i should put exercise in the early morning because exercise "wakes" me up ( or at least i think that's what he said).

sometimes i exercise 2 hrs before sleeping but it is a little hard to go to sleep, if u hav no other choice u must exercise. Unless u hav health problems.

no no no. The best time to exercise is in the morning. all the fat and carbs you ate during the day turn into fat over night. so if you work out in the morning before you eat anything, then you burn fat. if you work out at the end of the day, all you work off is the fat and carbs you ate that day. so work out in the morning, eat healthy small meals, and sleep well.thats all there is to it.

yeah, I think it is the adrenalin rush. when you run and stuff, you get your blood flowing and stuff. The best time to exercise is in the morning before work or school, that way you will stay awake through the day. If you want to exercise at night, lift weights or do push ups and sit ups. These tire you out.

Not sure about that .. the only exercise i do at night is with my girlfriend in bed .. and that's good for me

It depends on what kind of exercise you do before retiring.
My doctor recommended that evening exercise is the best, you'll sleep better. Walking is the best to do before down time. When your done cool down, have a glass of warm milk. And even try a bath, not a shower. The shower will rev you up more because of the steady pace of water.

I recently took a medical terminology class and I wont go too far in the specifics but it is definately better to work out in the morning before you start your day. Basically the center of cell has a small part that works as a power plant. If you do cardio first thing in the morning it super charges your cells to burn calories all day. And if you get the cells in calorie burning mode at night it will be hard to sleep for a while.
