its a mind disease
Diseases are something with physical cures, ie. a vaccine. Depression is what you call a disorder. A cure can be found but it's a combination of physical (medication) and emotional (therapy) factors that lead to that cure.
People want to categorize every little problem as a disease, so that they can place accountability on other things other than themselves. Everyone has emotional and physical problems, and most of us have the ability to deal with them without the use of medication or external motivation.
Whether we want to or not is a different a story.
Yes, depression is a mental illness. You can be depressed because you haven't found yourself yet, or any number of things. If you feel like the spark is missing, and this has gone on for more than two weeks, contact a counselor or your doctor. Good Luck!
Yes, depression is a disease; altough it consists (physically) of some chemicals imbalances, it can have outside causes. Nevertheless, depression is a sever disease that should be treated promptly
no disease. just crappy life style. yup. people suck. they need to explode. we (you and I) need to go after the "animals" for our "fun" and turn into a bunch of homicidail maniacs.
It is a disease. Normally depression will be caused by an imbalance of endorphins. These endorphines are chemicals that make you feel good, so not having enough of them will cause depression.
It doesn't mean that your weak or weird, and you shouldn't be embarassed to seek help.
Anyone anytime can suffer depression. It is a chemical imbalance of the brain that usually bad events in your life can trigger.
All of us have our ups and downs. If you have more downs than ups, you should see your doctor.
Just smile :-)
See a good doctor, this can be a chemical imbalance in the brain(no matter what Tom Cruise says) that can easily be treated!
Depression comes in many forms. Being depressed is not the same as having "Clinical Depression", which is a chemical imbalance and you should take to steps to treat it. If you are depressed because of something that happened in your life, then you should look into counseling.
It is a disease.
First it affects mind
then the brain
then life
there is no cure for depression until unless you think
its just a feeling
Dont worry.
think about some happiest moments in your life .You will be cured
well depression runs in my family. I have about six immediate family members that need medication. i don't think they can all be lost.
Depression is a disease but can also be cause by the feeling of not knowing where you are or where you are going in life. Also you can be hit with a bit of depression when you are feeling unfulfilled in life. However, if it is a chronic thing please go seek professional attention A.S.A.P
Depression can be a disease if you look at it from a physical point of view, where chemical or hormonal imbalances in your body prompt the feeling of being depressed or a similar effect. However looking at it psychologically, it's a matter of figuring out what makes you happy in life and seeing life in a positive sense rather than being passive towards it.
No,A disease is something that might have a cure ornot have a cure. But I think it means you are said and you have not found yourself. But you think your the only person who feels it.No then you are wrong there are other people who feel it to.Just to let you know your not the only one who feels the of depession, there are other people to.

Its a disease, its not your fault. The good news is, if you seek help from a professional and are completely honest and open with them, your disease can be arrested, and feel better than you knew you ever could. It takes alittle bit of work but it is so worth it.
Its a condition, not a disease. Sometimes its physiological, but usually thats crap. It's from lack of positive energy, stimulation, many things. It happens to teenagers a lot because they haven't found themselves yet. Which is just a euphemism for you don't know what your lifes goal is. The vietnam war saved me from the usual depression as a teenager. I knew what my goal was when I first heard not even saw the Buddhist monk who poured gas on himself and lit himself on fire to protest the killing of the children. From the sixth grade to now, I hate war and I hate soldiers. Find something you can put your passions into. 40 odd years have gone bye and a lot of wars even a pathetic one inside this country have gone on and our going on, but hating something as much as Ihate war will keep you going anyway in the hopes of ending it.
Sometimes when I have felt real suicidial I picture how much better it would be to die breaking people out of prison instead of laying like a lump on a couch. Or robbing a bank, if you didnt get killed or caught you would have a bag frull of money. I am not advocating illegal adtivities yahoo i ma talking about mind games to keep yourself alive. I mean they both make more sense then just taking sleeping pills or overdosing on heroin. I am really liking the prison one at the moment. I think if I ever got desperately suicidal I would go to Pelican Bay.
The word "depression" is often thrown around colloquially as temporarily "feeling down" or tired all the time. It can be confusing because clinically there are specific criteria that need to be met before getting a formal diagnosis. Clinical depression is certainly a disease and often requires treatment. But "depression" in the colloquial sense is not. Think of depression in this sense as being like the flu. Some people seem to get the flu every year, sometimes multiple times and need to seek treatment for it. Some people almost never get it, but need treatment the times they do. And some people get it, but it never gets bad enough to have to see a doctor. Depression has all these areas of gray as well.

Both. Depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, or because you just have a lot of stuff going on in your life.
