When I'm menstruating I get diarrhea and canker sores. Normal?

Question:
I hardly ever get them during the rest of the month. Is there a reason? Can it be helped?

Answers:
There is allot of scientific evidence that suggests our hormones influence our gut, many women experience Diarrhea or other intestinal discomfort with their period. The canker sore situation sounds a bit odd.It could be that you are low in certain minerals, and since the menstral cycle causes women to loose certain minerals as blood and uterine tissue is shed,it could be it is triggering the canker sores. You should get your blood levels checked to see if you are deficient in any minerals or have an underlying condition,if it comes back normal try taking a multi-vitamin/mineral.Eat easy to digest foods during your period and try to relax, stress and anxiety increases these symptoms.

Nooooooo

yes it can be normal, lots of woman have different kind of pms symptoms, some people get pms worse then others, if its really bad however you should go to a doc, they can probably give something to u to ease the pms effects abit.

Don't listen to everyone else, this is COMPLETELY normal.

The diahrrea is VERY common and the cancer sores are somewhat common.

Make sure you rehydrate well.

Huh. I never heard of getting canker sores during your period, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I'd say that the diarrhea is very normal. The digestive tract can be very sensitive..especially to things that live right next door to it and all of a sudden start contracting for a week. :-P Sorta like if you're on a bad road and you start feeling sick..your intestines feel the vibrations and it causes them to contract more than they should, which leads to things not being fully digested and "dried", which leads to diarrhea.

Gross, I know. But that's why.

Stuff my doctor told me when I was diagnosed with digestive tract problems.

The canker sores could be herpes. Do you get them in your mouth or vaginally? Herpes usually erupt because of stress. For me they show up 3 weeks after Thanksgiving, Christmas and family dinners. Before I hit menopause, I'd get them around my period. I've also found out that they erupt when I eat nuts of any kind.
