I didn't realize the 2 were connected. I know UTIs (urinary tract infections) can be caused by sex and also by spermacidal lubricant as it changes the natural PH.
There has to be way to keep them at bay as your bladder can get damaged by the infections not to mention the discomfort.
Pure cranberry juice - not the "cocktails" that have lots of sugar - or cranberry extract capsules available over the counter at any drug store or health food store will work like magic to keep you comfortable and keep your urinary tract healthy. It's an old wives remedy but it works and is a godsend. Also, if you like long bubble baths - stop it. The alkalinity of the soap enters the urethura and affects the pH of your body and infection sets in. Try these suggestions. It could eliminate your problem - for life - like it did for me.
Ive been having the same problem. Unfortunately cranberry supplements didnt seem to help me. Things you need to do (but you are probably already aware of these) are: drink heaps of water, always urinate after sex and as soon as you need to go other times, try to limit the germs around your genital area, always have lubricated sex, wear clean cotton underwear, and keep your overall health and immunity up.
If you get pain around your kidney area or fever/flu symptoms with a UTI, see a doctor immediately because left untreated properly they can spread to your kidneys.
My seven year old kept getting uti's at least one a month finally her doctor sent her for a vcug they use a cathedor and fill up the bladder and find out what is going on, in her case her urine was going to the bladder and coming back up into her kidneys like a reflux, she may need surgery if they cant find any other alternative so you may need to go to the doctor but it can be from numerous thing like holding your urine, batheing, your soap.
