should I have a fibroadenoma removed?
Question:
Answers:
I have done been a registered mammographer for about 15 years. I would leave a fibroadenoma alone with these "ifs" satisfied:
IF it has been proven with needle/core biopsy to be a fibroadenoma
IF it is not large enough to cause me pain or interfer with my daily life
A fibroadenoma is not malignant. It may grow, it may not. Once you have an open biopsy (aside from cost, surgical risks etc), your mammogram will never look the same. It is very hard to tell the difference on film between an old scar and a cancer. You can safely monitor a proven fibroadenoma and you can always change your mind if it does get too large, etc.

what the hell is a fibroadenoma ? leave it, it sounds important!
It depends, if they are painful or they bother you yes. If they grow at a noticeable rate in a year yes because while they may not be cancerous now they can become so. But if they just sit there, they don't hurt or bother you and they aren't growing don't bother just get them checked every year.
Not even sure what that is. Could you add a little more to your information?
I say do it as you don't want it to turn cancerous. Do it if you know it's there.
