can HONEY do me wrong?

Question:
i eat a lot of (natural) honey, 1 kg per week..can it hurt my health in some way or make me gain weight (i dont want that)?

Answers:
You need to cut down on the amount you eat. Honey has minerals you don't get from refined sugar, which is nutrionally empty, but it spikes your insulin just as much as sugar does. Too much insulin in your body acts as an oxidant, which means that it damages your tissues and organs. That is the reason why diabetics are more susceptible to heart disease, kidney disease, and blindness among other things.

Other Answers:
Everything in moderation is good for you. :)

No, it's actually really good for you. A natural source of sugar that's not simple either. Keep eating it.

dont know, but I do know you are NEVER supposed to feed honey to a baby/toddler! It can kill them!

are you fat? are you diabetic?

Nope..it's good stuff, and it's tasty!

it will just make you sweeter

never hurts at all , its a holy food , but 1 kg is too much , 1 daily teaspoon is enough diluted with warm water, or 1 kg \ month , ur health will be better , u will got a very smooth skin , very fresh and longer life

It is very sugary so I'd guess it would make you put on weight and could be bad for your teeth, but if you havent put on weight yet, then you're probably one of those lucky people who doesnt gain weight easily! GRRR!

Honey is great for you.

My mom used to give my 2 brothers and I, a tablespoon a day. Kinda sounds weird now, but we loved it, and still do!

Eating local honey can help guard against pollen allergies.

It has sugar so if you are worried about sugar (which does help in gaining weight), perhaps lower you intake.

I do know that something sweet is irresistible. But 1 Kg is a little too much for the week. i would say one month also is not acceptable.

Unless you are diabetic, you should be okay. I found out the other day that you should buy honey from your area, it helps with allergies.

1kb of honey has 3041 calories. That accounts for about 1/4 of you daily calorie allowance. That is a lot.

Honey has been used for ages, its more of a natural sweetner. I think it is very healthy for you. If you have never had a cavity then you are just fine.

be careful of the sugar content as you could induce diabetes, perhaps a little less than a kilo a week, try manuka honey if you can find it anywhere, its a new zealand honey and apparently one of the tastiest and best in the world, also it may be good for you to know that honey is the only food that never spoils! therefore a fantastic natural antibiotic

No, unless you're a diabetic, Honey is very nutritious, but loaded with carbs, don't worry of weight gain if you have a fast metabolism, however if your clothes start feeling a bit snug you may want to back off of a bit-of-the-honey;) LOL Ahhh haaa, get it? Bit-o-honey? Oh I'm so funny sometimes:)

so sweet

hey "honey" its good for health.

but crossing the limt its bad for health.

If you are purchasing it from shop i suspect it is not natural.
Honey is too hot and should not be taken more than 25 gms. at a time if you are not sick. If you eat pure honey in more quantity eyes become red. It is danger signal. Further heat can cause hoemorrage in brain. Please give it up.

be careful of the sugar though it can be bad and yes if you eat alot of it and dont exercise you will gain weight

Don't eat it if you're pregnant or give it to babies under a year old. Raw honey contains dormant botulism spores that people with weak immune systems can't tolerate.

you can gain weight.

honey is sugar. plain and simple.. so if you eat alot of honey and dont exercise and eat right you will put on weight. Also sugar is bad for your teeth, make sure you brush your teeth after eating the honey so you dont get cavities.
