Everytime I grow out my hair, I get headaches and it falls out. How do I grow it long?

Question:
I want to grow my hair long, but my roots are weak, and my hair falls out a lot. How do I do this?
My hair falls out A LOT - even though I am careful, do not dye it, do not use a hair dryer, use natural shampoos, and do not style it often. Every time I grow it to about my shoulder, I start having big headaches, and it starts to fall out like crazy. I know that this must be partially genetic because this happened to my Mom too. But my hair is now a little longer than my shoulders AND I LOVE IT - but the headaches and hair-falling have started already. Other than this, my health is good, and I exercise regularly/eat a balanced diet. Help!

Answers:
First of all, ask a doctor about this the next time you see one. They may have some helpful info, as to whether this is a genetic disorder and what you can do to prevent it.

I do know that long hair can cause headaches because the weight of it is too much - not because the roots are weak. Also, headaches can cause stress, and stress does make you loose hair. Although it does not sound like your hair is long enough for this to be the cause..

Other Answers:
eat lots of protein to help your roots stay strong and massage your scalp to help with blood circulation so that it will grow faster. also use vitamin enriched shampoo AND conditioner.

Use Garnier Fructise Long and Strong shampoo and conditioner. It makes your hair silky smooth, and a lot stronger.

I always try to grow my hair out long also. Whenever I see a cute short hair style, I chop it. Or when I have another baby, I chop it. lol. They always grab it. I have 3 by the way so I went through chop city. lol. But what I usually do is go to a salon and ask to get it thinned out. So it won't be as heavy. I have thick hair and I get headaches too. My friend has the same problem also. And what I take also is prenatal vitamins. They're full of good vitamins that everyone knows is great for your hair!

Thats crazy. I dont see how the headaches would play a part in that. I wish you luck. I keep thinking of that scene from The Craft were the blonde chick is in the shower crying and shes pulling chunks of her hair off.

check your diet, and go to the doctor.
