Answers:
Don't drink alcohol if you're on meds. If you're not taking meds try this:
Try a really garlicky, homemade chicken soup.
Chicken Stock actually has a natural anti-inflamatory effect. And if you add lots of colourful veg to the soup you'll get lots of vitamin and minerals to help your body fight the infection.
Gargle with warm salt water - as much as you can stand, several times a day.
Drink lots of water, avoid caffinated beverages like coffee and sodas etc.
Take ibuprovin for pain.
And treat yourself to something yummy like icecream or popsicles. A hot rum toddy never hurt anybody either (but remember don't mix booze with antibiodics or painkillers).
Hope you feel better soon!

Other Answers:
It's inflammation of the tonsils caused by an infection. In tonsillitis, the tonsils are enlarged, red, and often coated by a substance that is yellow, gray, or white. If you have a viral form of tonsilitis it will go away on its own. If it happens to be strep throat instead, then you will need antibiotics. It probably wouldn't be wise to drink since your body is fighting off an infection.

I think I might have it also, but I don't know much about it either. Here is a google search for it, maybe you can find some info on it :) Good Luck!
