Question:

Answers:
Starting with simple patterns like simplicity and practice.
But If you are serious about fashion then go to an art school like The Art Institute. I did and now I am about to launch my own line of clothing along with the grand opening of my new boutique on South Beach. Fashion can take you a long way. GO FOR IT! It's not as hard as you think. When you get good invest in a serge machine. It makes your garments looked finished an professional.

Check in your community first. There are a lot of stores like JoAnn and Hancock Fabrics that offer sewing classes, but they cost an arm and a leg! There's most likely an older lady somewhere in your community that loves to sew and would love some company would could teach you. Or, there might be a class at the local community college that you can take. Singer makes a great beginning sewing book that has photos to guide you through everything.

Start with some really easy projects - you can buy 1-hour pants/skirt/dress patterns, they have few seams and aren't complicated. If you start with difficult patterns at the beginning, you will run into difficult techniques (putting in zippers, buttons, darts etc.) and those are tough to tackele if you have no experience. Just building up your confidence with easy pieces (get lovely material, you'll enjoy the results) will slowly build you up to try to take on more difficult techniques.
Good Luck!

You can get clothing patterns at any fabric store. Just get some and keep practicing. you can get tips for other people that make clothes to help. Just don't give up. Good Luck!

If you high school offers a Fashion Design class, take it. You can check summer classes that community colleges offer. Those don't cost as much as the ones from JoAnns. Purchace simple pattern pieces and buy clearance fabric for your first project ($1 a yard from WalMart ;]).cause you're just getting the hang of everythhing. Plus if you mess up its no big deal, since the fabric was on clearance. There's a book to help beginner sewers.I think it called Sewing for Dummies (something along that line). :D hope everything works out for you.
