how to curl eyelashes with making it crimp?

Question: i try to curl my eyelashes gently for 5 sec. and it doesnt curl at all and i try to curl it a little tighter and it turns out to crimp.

try holding it for longer, like 10 seconds. i always use an eyelash curler and when i use it i count to 10 and then do the same to the other one.
