Females do not have to have sex to have periods. Periods, or menstrual cycles, start at puberty, which can range from 11 to 16 years of age. In the event that the egg is not fertilized by sperm, the females body gets rid of the unfertilized egg once a month to prepare for a new egg. In other words, a female will have periods with out ever having sex. Sex has nothing to do with periods little buddy!
