How do I stop excessive yawning?

Question:

Answers:
You may have apnea, narcolespy Rarely, things like a heart attack or aortic dissection can also cause this symptom.

The sleep study is an appropriate test. If there is evidence of apnea, a machine known as a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) device can be considered for treatment.

A referral to a pulmonologist can be considered for further evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

Other Answers:
breathe deeply.

Yawning is cause by a lack of oxygen in your system. Go out and get some fresh air. Take a few deep breaths, and you won't have the tendency to yawn that much,if at all anymore.

You yawn when your body needs oxygen, so breathing exercises and drinking lots of water will help, along with making sure that you get enough DEEP sleep at night. Sleeping 8 hours a night doesn't do you any good if you only get it 2 hours at a time.

get plenty of rest, drink water, and be around plants and such. excessive yawning is due to a lack of oxygen to the brain.

to stop excessive you need to get the amount of sleep you need.

I had excessive yawning when I took an anti-depressant medication, Paxil. I was yawning ALL of the time. If by any chance you are taking that med, or some other that you started around the same time you started yawning all of the time..it might be worth it to ask you doc/switch your med. As soon I switched to Celexa, the yawning disappeared.

Hope this helps.
