Answers:
my 8 month old has had skin allergies since she was a newborn. she also has baby eczema. her doctor prescribed elocon.i think thats how you spell it. anyway, at the pharmacy, they can give you a generic which is a whole lot cheaper, but still works wonders. before the doctor had given me the precription, my sister in law had already told me about the cream. she's a nurse in the allergy department of hospitals. any way, the itching definitely has subsided, but hasn't totally gone away. i have noticed though that when i put a few drops of baby oil in her bath water that it keeps her skin from drying out and helps to prevent some of the itchyness. i tried lotion, but that also gives her an allergic reaction.

my best suggestion would be to try different suggestions and see whay works best for your child. although eczema is eczema, each child will react differently to things. also preventing the itch is a whole lot better than trying to treat the itch. keep her moisturized with a hypoallergenic formula, keep her clean, treat the eczema every night with the elocon or equivalent, and let her know that scratching will only inflame the area. good luck to you and your daughter.

Other Answers:
Take her to a dermatologist for some cream. If she keeps scratching she can get a really bad staph infection. Put socks over her hands and tell her to rub lightly if she must. Buy an itch stick (made from ammonia) to rub on the really bad spots and try soaking one of her arms in baking soda and warm water to see if that helps with the itching, it works for some. If it helps, have her sit in a bath of the same mixture to give her some relief but get her to the Doctor or emergency room for some relief if nothing else works.

How can I stop my child from scratching?

Scratching is an instinctive reaction to itching, and it is particularly hard for babies and children to resist the urge to scratch. Unfortunately, not only does scratching not stop the itching, it aggravates the skin and makes the condition worse. The skin becomes sore and inflamed, and eventually cracks and bleeds. It may then become infected. The only effective way to stop a baby scratching is to stop the itch.

You may notice your child developing a habit of scratching at a particular time of day, or during a particular activity such as watching television. If so, try to break the habit by making that the time to rub in a moisturizer to relieve the itching.

Me and my brother had eczema really bad, my mom would make us rub on aloe vera cream and hydrocordisone cream. They really soothe the itching. You can get both of those over the counter.

yes use cloptazol crame for here tow time in day and dont appled it to sun under use

Hydrocortisone lotions and creams may help soothe the skin. You may find that wet compresses provide relief. Sedatives and tranquilizers also may help your daughter to stop scratching, but your doctor will want to monitor your daughters use of these substances because they can be addictive.
