People keep on suggesting simple medications that I am sure you have tried. The suggestion regarding the baking soda is outright dangerous. You need to go after the underlying cause. The most common cause of heartburn is H. pylori infection (the 2005 Nobel prize in Medicine went to the doctors that discovered that fact). So you need to get tested for that bacteria (either blood or stool test) and treated as needed. Also, you should meet with a doctor to make sure you dont have any more serious ailments such as stomach ulcers, erosions of esophagus, etc. Finally other organs, especially heart, can produce symptoms that can be misinterpreted as heartburn.another reason to get checked out. Good luck!

Have you tried nexium? It worked for me. Go to your doctor, they'll know what to do

if no over the counter medicines are helping, see a doctor, could be a sign of something serious

try drinking peppermint cordial,it works wonders!

I know this will sound gross, but it works. Take a teaspoon of baking soda and dissolve it in a small glass of water and drink it. It works really quick.

First of all, see your doctor, might be something very minor, but definitely change your diet. Lots of fresh fruits, and drink lots of water, hope this helps in the meantime, until you see the DOC.

as for sleeping keep your head elevated. a few pillows under your head

zantac works a treat and you can get it on perscription from your doctor, good idea to get it checked anyways if you get it a lot

Chewable Pepcid complete works wonder.

See a doctor to rule out other complications.. I use prilosec OTC and Pepcid complete.. both work well.. Also.. I drink milk.. Eating small meals several times a day and stay away from acid type food.. Nexium is good but very expensive.. But most of all.. SEE YOUR DOCTOR..

First and foremost go see a doctor to make sure it is just heartburn!.Something I have used, because I had heartburn BAD when I was pregnant and couldn't really take any meds.Celery.. worked for me.

If one of the acid reducers (Pepcid, Zantac, etc.) don't work for you, then you HAVE TO go see a doctor. It could be an ulcer. It's more likely GERD (Gastro-esophogeal reflux disease; basically stomach acid splashing up into your espophagus). It's all treatable. Don't continue to suffer, but more important, if you have an ulcer or GERD, you are actually doing damage to your stomach and esophagus - it will get worse if you don't treat it.

This may sound simple, but have you ever tried NOT DRINKING ANY LIQUID at mealtimes? I was bothered by heartburn until I discovered this simple "remedy." I drink water 1-2 hrs. AFTER meals and up to 1/2 hr. BEFORE meals. Give a few days for your body to adjust and see if it doesn't work for you, too.
