Well, I tell my patients (and my children) that when they put their nails in their mouth they are eating anything someone else did not wash off of their hands, i.e. bathroom wiping and door handles.you may be eating poop. I had the same problem until I got my first manicure it is a real treat to get this done.
I put a large rubber band on my wrist and whenever I felt like biting my nails I just gave it a quick snap. Sounds silly but it really did work.
