Is there any evidence that Ambien can lead to suicide?

There are anecdotal reports of people committing suicide after taking Ambien for a period of time. Has anyone heard of such stories? Any research being done in this area?

Answers:
Is it a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor? If so there's an increased risk of successful attempts of suicide with this group of meds in the first month. This is believed to be due to an increased proactiveness of the patient sadly while they are still having negative thoughts of the future. I wouldn't worry about it too much
