Try a heating pad for the pain. The fluid may need to be drained by his doctor. Be Blessed!

Other Answers:
Well first of all he needs to see a doctor, if he hasnt already, when he does they are gonna drain the fluid, they insert a really long needle in behind the knee cap and draw out the fluid into a really large suringe. It sounds and looks yucky but its really is a relief to the person in pain. They will give him meds like anti-inflamatories and pain killers and maybe even a lasix type drug to reduce fluid retension. They look at his weight if he is over weight they are gonna recommend him losing it, and a exersize program to try to slowly work that knee into being able to bear weight properly. And if their was a significant injury to it, they recommend surgery. Get Well and God Bless

How old is he? What was he doing? How long has he been in pain? Is the pain dull or sharp? More info would help. Without knowing anything, I would say take him to see a doctor.

Put ice packs on his knees. If he has torn something, heat will draw more blood to the area and make them hurt worse.
