You should go to your dentist and have a cleaning so any extrinsic stains, caused by such things as smoking and drinking dark beverages, can be removed. Also, try and avoid those things that cause staining of the teeth. I would not advise using any whitening toothpastes.. they are not going to change the shade of your teeth & they are very abrasive and can be potentially harmful to the enamel of the teeth. Make sure you have good oral hygiene habits by brushing 2-3 times per day, flossing at least once per day and seeing your dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and exam. If you are interested in whitening, see your dentist as there are no over-the-counter whitening products that have been approved by the ADA (American Dental Association).
