EDIT: I was answering about the next few places. Misunderstood your Q. No humans are immortal. I agree, a life too long--on earth--equals punishment. But IF you were immortal (hypothetical) you would be immune from injury. Still, I would prefer going through the next places, things become more heavenly as you leave the unregenerate and unprogressive behind.

If someone immortal was here it might give added impetus to science, the humans trying to figure out how to kill him. All kinds of problems for both, wouldn't work.

I rekon its a curse. Expecially in this time and age where everyone is like killing each other, invading countries, and society overall is getting brought to its doom, i really wouldnt want to live through all that.
