Does anyone know about using methodone as a pain reliver in the hospital?

Question:

a friend is in the hospital and it seems they gave him perkoset, morphine, oxycodone and vikoden.which all made him hazy and confused, so they then changed to methodone.but I though it was just for heroin addicts.the nurse says no it is used in hospitals for pain but I have never heard of this. Does anyone have experience with this?

It not..Just left 5 days ago I was on Morphine and the patients on the 2nd floor were on methodone.users.
But I'm no expert, I have had 4 surgeries and never offered methadone..
