I have a nagging cough. Dr says it's gastric reflux. How do I control or stop this cough without medication?
I know someone has this same problem and has tried something which works other than medicine. If not, which medication works the best with minimum side effects prescription or over the counter. Thanks!!
Answers:
Well, you probably should go with medicine if your doctor prescribed it. However, there are a couple of things they told people to do before they had medicines:
1. Don't overeat. In fact, you should eat less than you think you want, then let that settle before you eat any more.
2. Try to not eat within 3 (or so) hours before going to bed.
3. Sleep with your head elevated.
Calcium may also help by reducing stomach acidity. (Tums is just calcium carbonate.)

what my mom does for my dad which works for ulcers too is you get a piece of an aloe vera plant and you mix it in with kool-aid. or you could boil some tomatoes and yello lemons together and eat them like that to help with the cough.

Gastric Reflux can be a very serious condition. It will eventually erode your esophagus. You should treat it medically Zantc, Prilosec, or a prescription. If you choose not to treat it with medication you will be a very good surgical candidate. How can she lose 5 kg in 10 days?
