Does anyone know what low voltage in the the frontal leads on a ECG means??
Answers:
The heart depends upon electrical impulses to beat sequentially. These impulses are picked up and read on an EKG. When there is a change in electrical impedence, remember Ohm's law, the voltage on the EKG is changed. Low voltage is most commonly caused by emphysema. Litterally normal QRS may be 7 - 10 mm, whereas with low voltage they are only 2 - 5 mm.

It means that the voltage in the frontal leads of the ECG are low.It is probably normal, but it just means that you have a lot of skin/fat tissue in front of your chest, e.g., if you are fat. Another possible cause is hypothyroidism, but in that case, generally, there should be low voltage in all the leads and not just the frontal leads.
