Better take a doctors advise on this - any suggestion from here which doesnt suit him will send him back to the hospital which I am sure you would not want.

God bless you!

Steamed vegetables, fruits & eggs without its yellow.

ask your doctor

I would suggest steamed vegetables. Chicken and fish (NO red meat! Too fatty and heavy!), boiled or grilled, with no oil, because oil is fatty too.
Little or no salt. This includes salty items. No preserved items either. And try to have less or very little carbohydrates.
Besides high cal skim milk, no heavy dairy products.
It's important, these, because the body is still recovering.
Also, even if you're not a believer in traditional herbal medicines, try Chinese herbal soups (that increases smooth blood flow and cleanses toxins from the body), especially double-boiled chicken soup.
It would also help to lightly massage with olive oil or using commercial herbal lotions onto your husband as again, it promotes blood flow within the body, this will encourage oxygen to be carried faster in the blood stream.
You can get these chinese herbal recipes online, or from your Chinese friends (they will definately know, at least their moms or grandmas).
You can try boiled aspararus with garlic grilled chicken, just boil asparagus with a little salt and a dash of vinegar (no butter, please). Grilled chicken would be to mash garlic and rub the paste on the chicken, then grill it. If it helps, you should boil it for a while before grilling it, because you should not use oil. At least, try your best not to use oil, or use as little as possible.
Garlic is known to be good for the health.

Have your husband either go vegetarian, or take a LOT of steamed food.

Be sure to seek advice from the doctor before starting any diets. Good luck!

This is something that the MD should/could have given you upon discharge.

Call the hospital nutritionist and ask; they make up all the food intake plans for each kind of patient and the patient's disease or wellness plan.

Do you mean a heart bypass or a gastric bypass?
If it's a gastric bypass, your husband should have had extensive information on how to eat after his surgery from his surgeon's office.
If it's a heart bypass, you'd want to stay away from fatty meats and foods, try lighter foods, and foods lower in cholesterol. Again, ask his doctor.
