The disease is the uncontrollable desire to have it, even unto death.the bleeding hearts that have these problems with addiction have labeled them as a disease because it helps them feel like their own weakness it not their fault, which I guess helps them to deal with all the crappy stuff they did while they were addicts.

People can't stop overdosing on boose and food, among other things.)(Interestingly enough, I have learned that alcoholism is often due to a genetic defect that makes someone allergic to sugars or carbs. This defect makes it so that they are for a lack of better words "allergic" to alcohol. I know that sounds weird. But I don't mean allergic as in they get hives. It's similar to when you are allergic to foods like eggs or wheat. This allergic actually causes you to crave foods that contain eggs or wheat - uncontrollably. Your allergy causes an addiction. It is very similar with alcohol. I'm not saying that everyone with a drinking problem is like this. Many people have a dependency due to depression or other issues. But this is just one cause that makes people addicted, it doesn't make them take the first drink.
