I am only 31 and my hair sheds alot, am I goig bald?
What should I do to prevent this? I already cut my hair, it was down to my waist and it is still happening especially when I wash it. AAH!

If you are a male, you may be going bald, although it could just be thinning. If you are a female, it is pretty unlikely you're going bald - you're probably just thinning.
Either way, Rogaine is available for both men and woman. A less strenuous treatment would be Nioxin products, found at your local salon. This line is specifically for thinning hair, and really focuses on the scalp. Also, taking a multivitamin will definitely help. (They have some specifically for hair and nails.)
Some women take prenatal vit.s thinking they'll get twice the amount, and their hair will grow faster. This is not so. Your body will flush out what you don't need; so unless your pregnant, this is unnecessary.
If your female and thinning, I would suggest cutting hair to shoulder length or above and adding layers to create fullness. If you're male, a close cut really does create a healthier, fuller look; so don't hang on to that long hair. For both sexes, if you have a lot to cut of, donate it! (At the very least, it'll make you feel better about the transition.)
Finally, you may want to consult your doctor. As your problem seems to be sudden, it could be an indicator of a health problem. (Thyroid problems, medications, high stress -all of these can contribute to hair loss.) There may be an over the counter remedy you need that Rogaine or Nioxin will not help. .Hope this helped. :)

Just to give you some facts about hair shedding. A human will lose around 1,000 strands of hair a day. this average number will increase if you are experiencing any stress going through a biological change i.e. being pregnant or medication that you are taking. another reason could be from your eating habits, Diet. but for women the number one reason is because of stress.you could try Rogain for hair but the only thing is that once you stop the hair that is new will fall out and that is a strong fact! Muli-vitimin and use a strengthing shampoo and conditioner to stop the week hair from falling out.
The solution is to have a doctor check you out to make sure that you are in a healthy state. if you are having a lot of stress then try to change something in your life that will minimize this. you could take a multi-vitamin for women.
If your hair is Really long then it will more noticeable than if your hair is short.

there is many things that can cause you hair to fall out,medication, which you said you are not on, poor diet/stress can make hair weak when it can pop or shed, a bad perm! or it could be a symtom to a disease or disorder, you need to got to the doctor to ffind out what it wrong son't wait to it's to late.
well I'm a vegetarian and i went to the hair dressers and she said asked if i was a vegetarian and i was like yes and how did u know that she said all vegetarians have the same type. i used to have really thick hair and now its not.( ihave been a vegetarian for a yr).but its true that people lose 1000 strands a day. i went to the pharmacy and told him i was a vegetarian and he suggested taking a multi vitamin( centrum forte) along with vitmin B75 the vitamin B'S are very good for your hair it will cause your hair to be health and grow more . also when you wear your hair in a pony tail that is very tight it can also cause you to lose more hair. a hair dresser said if you wear your hair in a tight pony tail and even at night by the time you are 50 you will lose hair/bald in areas. so i suggest wearing your hair down . you said u had long hair b4 and so do i so i try not to were it in a pony tail at night or when u sleep this can cause hair to become lose and shed. you have to make sure u have alot of protien because your hair is made up of a protin . eating tofu, egg whites, cottage chesse, yogret and beans are a great source of protien ..best of luck
